Archbishop Carroll High School received a generous donation of office supplies this past week to support teachers in the upcoming school year. Sam Barnhart, an aerospace engineer at Cornerstone Research Group (CRG), and his wife, Alex, personally delivered several carloads of supplies to the school.
“Educators are constantly looking for supplies to help enrich their classrooms,” said Alex Barnhart, a math teacher at Carroll High School.
When Sam Barnhart noticed an excess of unused office supplies in the former CRG headquarters, he reached out to Jeff Bennett, senior vice president of operations, and Dave Whalen, chief information officer of Rushlight Assets, the holding company of CRG, to ask if the company would be willing to donate the supplies.
“My CRG and Rushlight Assets colleagues did a great job filling up two pallets of boxes that we could donate,” said Sam Barnhart.
The Barnharts filled their vehicles and stocked a classroom with a variety of supplies. The teachers are already making plans to use them in the upcoming academic year.
“Giving back to the community and supporting education is incredibly important to us,” said Pat Hood, CEO of both Rushlight Assets and Cornerstone Research Group. “We hope these supplies will make a difference for the teachers and students at Archbishop Carroll.”
Archbishop Carroll High School is a Catholic school in Dayton serving approximately 700 students. In 2020, it became the first and only Catholic high school in the Dayton area to earn the Ohio Department of Education’s Purple Star Designation as a military-friendly school.
